I've been looking at home magazines for a long time... not really reading, mostly ripping. I can tell you if a magazine is really good by the number of pages I rip out. These pages have some element that inspires me to create something else or re-purpose an item I already have; re-decorate or redefine a space.
These posts
are the records of the wheels turning in my head, the realization of my ideas.

Do you need an idea? Ask me and I will do my best...

Free is ALWAYS better

I love craigslist. What I love about it most is the free section. Granted they don't always have the best stuff at first glance, but of course that depends on where you live. I live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, so my nearest craigslist jackpot is Denver.
This is a little post I may begin to do regularly, unless I start accumulating too much furniture.
Here is a not-so-amazing find in the Denver free section of craigslist, followed by an idea board with 2 different make overs. How great is that?
I will not be going to pick this up (as much as I changed my own mind with this makeover). So, any Denver people in need of a wine bar/buffet.... happy hunting!

Taking out the bottom six drawers can give you the space to create shelving and insert a pre-made wine rack to create an entirely different piece.
Since this piece already had a pseudo-Spanish style to it, I decided to follow with the old-world theme in a glossy blackened look and a sea-weathered blue paint.
To create the first look you can loosely brush a high-gloss black over the entire piece making sure to get it in the cracks and details. While the paint is wet, use a damp rag to wipe off some of the paint in the higher points of the details and hand-traffic areas. These lighter shell knobs will really stand out against the darkness of the piece.
